A Guide to Santa Teresa in November
The shoulder between green season and dry — when the jungle is at its most alive and the beaches are still beautifully uncrowded.
November in Santa Teresa is one of the best-kept secrets on the Nicoya Peninsula. The heavy rains of October have eased, leaving the hillsides an electric green and the rivers full. Mornings are clear and warm, afternoons bring a brief tropical shower, and evenings cool into long, star-lit dinners by the pool.
Weather. Expect highs around 30°C / 86°F and lows in the low 20s. Humidity is dropping week by week. Bring a light layer for early surf sessions and one waterproof shell for the occasional storm.
Surf. Consistent waist-to-overhead swell with offshore winds most mornings. Playa Hermosa for mellow longboarding, Playa Santa Teresa for punchier beach-break peaks, and Playa Carmen for a sunset paddle. Ask us to arrange a private lesson at the door.
What to do. Sunrise yoga, jungle horseback rides, waterfall hikes at Montezuma, a day trip to Cabo Blanco Reserve, and slow sushi dinners at Satori. November is also the season for sea turtle nesting on the southern beaches.
Pack. Two swimsuits, reef-safe sunscreen, a sarong, quick-dry layers, sandals, and one nicer outfit for dinner. Leave the heavy walking shoes — flip flops do most of the work here.
